About Pax Christi Toronto

Pax Christi Toronto is a small but growing group of concerned Catholics who are trying to make the statement that a non-violent approach to living and dealing with the world’s problems is the only solution that will work in the long term.

We are opposed to the use of military force as a means of enforcing our will upon others, no matter how well meant, or even as a means of protecting our own physical and commercial assets. As Christians, we are committed to the “terms” that the Lord has imposed on the nations …

They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; One nation shall not raise the sword against another, nor shall they train for war again. (Isaiah 2: 4)

Father John Dear & "The Elevator 9 Trial" postponed to Sept 6

The Elevator 9 Trial has been moved yet AGAIN & is now scheduled for Thursday September 6th at 9am at 421 Gold SW 6th floor courtroom in Albuquerque. The Prosecutor is the reason for the latest in a long series of delays, he had to be in California for his parent's 50th wedding anniversary & it is my understanding that some of the witnesses would be gone for July & August, which gets us all the way to September 6th almost 1 year since (September 26) the 9 of us tried to get Senator Domenici to sign the Declaration of Peace & wound up spending 5+ hours in an elevator reading the names of both the American & Iraqi dead before we were cited. Our current lawyers have sent a subpoena to Senator Domenici for him to come testify at our trial & we are still waiting on Judge Svett's ruling.

The Courthouse remains the same: U.S. District Courthouse - 6th Floor Courtroom, 421 Gold Ave, SW Albuquerque
